Taekwondo has evolved from a humble folk game and form of unarmed combat known as Subakhi, which was practiced among monks and warriors in the late 4th Century.
Sportwise, Taekwondo seeks to combine the influences of traditional Taekwondo with the challenge and excitement of competition and the science behind the development of elite athletes seeking excellence in sport.
Traditionally, Modern Taekwondo teachers fundamental stances, blocks, punches, strikes and kicks with the highly specialized training for competition sparring and poomse (patterns). Self-defence techniques are designed to teach simple effective blocks, holds and takedowns and may involve the hands and feet as well as weapons
Cho's Mitchelton club has been around for over 20 years producing many black belts, tournament champions as well as international referees with a well respected standard.
Wayne Gannon is the current master instructor with 30 years experience of the art and has been teaching for 20 years. He is a World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) 6th Dan and is also a 1st class international referee which allows him to travel around the world referring at national and regional competitions. Wayne has a lifetime dedication to his Taekwondo and enjoys sharing his experience and passing his knowledge to his students.
